This group of color additives is made up of colors that do not fall into the other identified chemical classes. It consists of colors that are not approved for use in cosmetics in the U.S. (except, possibly, as hair colorants). They may or may not have approved uses as colors for cosmetics in other countries. Users of these colors should consult the laws and regulations for each country where their use is contemplated. Additional information on these colors may be found in the CTFA International Color Handbook (2nd edition, 1992).
In some instances the name listed is the technical name used for the color before it has been batch certified by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as meeting purity standards for U.S. approved color additives.
