Surfactant - Hydrotropes are surfactants which have the ability to enhance the water solubility of another surfactant. Prominent members of this group are short chain alkyl aryl sulfonates, sulfosuccinates, and some nonionic surfactants. This function is also attributed to other surfactants classified as Surfactants - Emulsifying Agents, and Surfactants - Solubilizing Agents, and Surfactants - Suspending Agents. The listing below is limited to surfactants primarily used as hydrotropes but does include some non-surface active agents. |
