화학종명(영)

Color Additives - Exempt from Batch Certification by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration

화학종명(한)

색소 첨가제류 - 미국 F.D.A. 승인면제

설명(영)

These colors are specifically allowed for use in cosmetics in the U.S., however, they do not require individual batch analysis and certification by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. They include a wide variety of substances such as inorganic pigments, plant and animal extractives, and synthetic materials. Examples of these colors include iron oxides, henna, carmine, and dihydroxyacetone. Each of these colors is the subject of an approved color additive petition to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Usage of these color additives is also regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. For the current approved uses, consult the color additive regulations, Title 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 73. Based on the relatively simple composition or derivation of these colors, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has determined that individual batches of these colors do not require certification for purity. For more information, see "U.S. Colorants".
